incisions taking with it the iris and probably, necessitating further surgical interference in the form of an iridectomv. On the other hand once the conjunctival flap has healed, there is sufficient back pressure on the aqueous in the anterior chamber to prevent its sudden escape through the triangular opening, there is now no danger of the iris prolapsing. As soon as massage has been started it may be carried out once or twice daily during the post-operative period to ensure the passage of aqueous through the opening and to prevent healing occurring at its edges. The patient is allowed up at this juncture and can usually be discharged around the tenth day. He is instructed to massage the eyeball gently daily througb the lower lid and is seen at weekly intervals until it has become obvious that a p)ermanent filtering cicatrix has been produced; at this stage massage is discontinued.

Renal Tumours in Adults with Correlation between Fuhrman Grading and Proliferative Marker
Background: Definite data regarding the incidence and distribution of renal tumours in eastern India is not known. For better management, as it is essential to identify patients with poor prognosis, prognostic factors like stage, nuclear grade and their relationship to molecular markers are also unclear in this region. The purpose of our study was to assess the spectrum of adu...
متن کاملEvaluation of the prognostic value of CD117 and CK20 biomarkers in urinary bladder carcinoma
Background: Over-expression of CD117 and cytokeratin 20 (CK20) is seen in many malignancies. Given that few studies have been conducted regarding the role of these biomarkers in the etiology of bladder tumours, this study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of CD117 and CK 20 biomarkers in the benign and malignant tumours of urinary bladder carcinoma. Methods: This case-control study was co...
متن کاملLong-term results of endoscopic resection of nasopharyngeal tumours.
Traditional open approaches to the nasopharynx either provide limited access and risk significant morbidity. Here we describe our experience with endoscopic resection of nasopharyngeal tumours. Retrospective chart review was performed for all patients who underwent endoscopic nasopharyngeal resection from September 1993 to January 2007 at a tertiary rhinology centre. Six patients underwent endo...
متن کاملTechnique and indications of extended sublabial rhinotomy ("midfacial degloving").
Midfacial degloving is an extended sublabial rhinotomy, which permits good bilateral access to the nasal and paranasal cavities, the base of the skull, and the clivus. The incisions leave no visible scars. The access is suitable for large benign tumours (such as nasopharyngeal fibromas or inverted papillomas), but can also be used for malignant tumours. It can be enlarged by supplementary incis...
متن کاملRadiation-induced leiomyosarcoma of the posterior neck region.
INTRODUCTION Leiomyosarcomas are mesenchymal malignant tumours that appear in smooth muscle cells. Their most frequent locations are the uterus and gastrointestinal tract. Their occurrence in head and neck is considered exceptional. We present a patient with a posterior neck region leiomyosarcoma who had received radiation for a nasopharyngeal carcinoma 20 years earlier. The incidence ratio of ...
